abstract Experiments were carried out to determine the moisture-dependent physical properties of soybeans as useful parameters in the designing of equipment for processing, transportation, sorting and separating soybeans. The physical properties of soybeans were determined at 9.5 to 49.7% (d.b.) moisture content. The grain dimensions as well as a thousand grain mass increased with increase in moisture content whereas bulk density, true density, porosity and sphericity decreased. The static angle of repose increased linearly from 30 to 51. Also static coefficient of friction increased from 0.220 to 0.300 and 0.330 to 0.420 for glass and plywood surface with the increase of water content.
