abstract
The paper shows the application of the steady state soil moisture flow theory for three different peat-moorsh (Ferric Histosols) soil profiles from the Biebrza River Valley. The unsaturated hydraulic conductivity was determined using the ‘multi-step’ method. The numerical method was used to calculate the height of the capillary rise - pressure head relationship for each profile with several fluxes. The maximum height and intensity of capillary rise in peat-moorsh soil profiles depends on the degree of advance of the moorsh-forming process, as well as the degree of decompositions of peat layers.
